Statement of Intent

For my GCSE Media NEA,  we have been given the task to create a magazine front cover and double page spread for the target audience of 14-18 year olds on the topic of music. After a lengthy time of pondering, I have decided to create a Hip Hop/Rnb based magazine and chosen to name my magazine Stargaze. I have gone with this genre of music because when collecting the results of my survey, I found out that majority of the participants were of the age range and picked the category of Hip Hop/Rnb hence making the decision of basing it around the genre. I went with Stargaze as the name of the magazine because I believe that stars are very unique and one of a kind to one another which reflects on how artists each have their own individual sounds and flow, then according to the internet,  the definition of gaze is 'looking intently and steadily, especially in admiration'. This goes well for my magazine because it is based off artists with original creative sounds as well as it is supposed to give a respectful representation of the artists on the cover. An image of my main model/featured artist will dominate the cover of Stargaze they will represent the name of the magazine and what it is all about. Also, they will interest the target audience because my model is an upcoming artists that many people may not have heard of which will intrigue the audience into finding out more about them. At this moment in time,  I do not intend to put any other images on my cover because I believe the artist is the most crucial asset to the cover and other images would take away the focus of the model. The stories that will be found in my magazine would be about upcoming artists as well as trending artists at the moment and what new songs and albums are topping charts each week. There will also be an in depth look in the meaning behind lyrics of one of the top songs of the week and music gossip etc. My double page spread will include a picture of my model on one page,  then  the page next to it will contain an interview or a Q&A with the artist containing three other images related to the artist because the cover will relate to the double page spread as they are the main focus of this magazine issue. The featured model of Stargaze will wear casual trendy clothing (e.g. bomber jacket, trainers, baseball cap etc.) due to their lack of interest in fashion, but they tend to keep up with a few trends.
